Grade 8 students conducted a calorimetry lab this week. They calculated how much energy is contained in various snack foods by burning the food and using the energy released to heat a known quantity of water. They then measured the temperature change of the water and the change in mass of the snack foods and used both to calculate the amount of energy in the food.
