The first speaker in the series is none other than Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation and one of the most experienced and sought-after meditation leaders in America. Author of the 2018 New York Times best seller Strength in Stillness: The Power of Transcendental Meditation,Mr. Roth has spoken at Google Zeitgeist, Aspen Ideas Festival, Aspen Brain Conference, Wisdom2.0, and Summit.
The school of meditation that Mr. Roth is at the forefront of is called Transcendental Meditation, or TM. Many first became aware of TM through The Beatles and their guru, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, in the late 1960s. TM has since shed its psychedelic reputation and proven itself to be the meditation mode of choice for Hollywood and business elites, not to mention providing educational benefits to millions of students and therapeutic support to those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. TM has shaped up to be more than a fad, garnering testimonials from leading health professionals and an increase in research showing how it reduces stress hormones and blood pressure while improving cognitive focus and creativity. The mainstreaming of TM is thanks in large measure to the tireless efforts of Mr. Roth himself.
As a meditation instructor, Mr. Roth’s students include thousands of at-risk students in underserved schools, military veterans, women and children who have experienced domestic violence, and celebrities like Tom Hanks, Oprah Winfrey, Martin Scorsese, and Katy Perry.
